Alfonso, José, 1929-1987

José Alfonso (Aveiro, Portugal, 1929- Setúbal, Portugal, 1987). A musician, popularly known as Zeca Alfonso, he composed the song, Grândola, Vila Morena which, when it was played, was the signal for the beginning of the Carnation Revolution (1975) which brought an end to the Estado Novo dictatorship in Portugal (1926-1974).
