Isabel Allende (Lima, 1942- ) is an internationally renowned Chilean writer. Her first novel The House of Spirits enjoyed great success. In 2010, she was awarded the National Award for Literature in Chile. She has sold over 51 million copies and her work is translated into more than 27 languages.
