Calders, Pere, 1912-1994

Pere Calders i Rossinyol (Barcelona, 1912-1994) was a Catalan illustrator and writer who was known for his fiction writing. He directed the magazine, Esquetlla de la Torratxa, with Tísner. After the war he was exiled and spent part of his life in Mexico, until he returned to Barcelona in 1962.

Among his works, his most popular titles are: Cròniques de la veritat oculta (Chronicles of the Hidden Truth), L'ombra de l'atzavara (The Shade of the Agave Plant), Antaviana, De teves a meves (From Yours to Mine), among others.

His personal papers are held in the Biblioteca d'Humanitats (Humanities Library) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
