Sienkiewicz, Henryk, 1846-1916

Henryk Adam Aleksander Pius Sienkiewicz de Oszyk (Wola Okrzejska, 1846-Vevey, 1916). Polish journalist and writer. He worked as a journalist, travelling and working as a special correspondent in several countries. In 1882 he was appointed director of the newspaper Slowo. As a writer he was very popular in his time. In 1896 he published Quo vadis? his most famous work. In 1905 he received the Nobel Prize for Literature.
