Editorial La Renaixensa, founded by Pere Aldavert, emerged from the initiative of a magazine created in 1871. It was headquartered at number 13 Carrer Xuclà in Barcelona. In 1873, Àngel Guimerà joined its management at a time when the company needed a printing press of its own in order to keep watch over its output. Thus, a private company was created with the partners Pere Aldavert, Àngel Guimerà, Iu Bosch and Tadeu Monge.

Editorial La Renaixensa, founded by Pere Aldavert, emerged from the initiative of a magazine created in 1871. It was headquartered at number 13 Carrer Xuclà in Barcelona. In 1873, Àngel Guimerà joined its management at a time when the company needed a printing press of its own in order to keep watch over its output. Thus, a private company was created with the partners Pere Aldavert, Àngel Guimerà, Iu Bosch and Tadeu Monge.
During the 35 years it was in operation, La Renaixensa not only published newspapers but also issued publications for a variety of organisations, such as the Lliga de Catalunya and the Unió Catalanista, rooted in the Catalanist project of the Renaixença movement. Even though the newspaper La Renaixensa disappeared in 1905, the publishing house continued under the leadership of Aldavert, promoting the publication of new authors with the goal of fostering Catalan language and literature. It also published foreign authors such as Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky in order to encourage reading habits in contemporary Catalan society.

La Renaixensa
Collections
La Renaixensa promoted the dissemination of literature, history and political works. One of the ways it reached people was through the serials that accompanied the newspaper La Renaixensa, such as the Novelas Catalanas y Extrangeres and Biblioteca Recreativa collections.
